Transforming Learning: Adeption's User-Centric LMS & App Redesign
ADEPTION
The Context:
In a rapidly evolving business landscape, leadership development is essential to ensure that organisations have the skills and knowledge needed to thrive. Current leadership development programmes are often fragmented and lack personalised, engaging content, leading to a lack of motivation and poor learning outcomes and effectiveness. This is where Adeption comes in.
The Challenge:
The existing leadership development platforms and apps do not offer a comprehensive, user-friendly solution for individuals and organisations. Users struggle to find relevant, high-quality content, track their progress, and connect with a community of learners.
The Team:

The Solution:
Design a platform and app that are user-friendly, engaging, and effective in facilitating personalised learning and development. The key to successfully addressing the challenge of LMS redesign is a continuous commitment to user-centric design, data-driven decision-making, and a flexible, iterative approach to development. By actively involving users and keeping their needs at the forefront, Adeption can evolve to meet the ever-changing demands of modern education and professional development.
User Story
As a learner on Adeption's Learning Management Platform, I want a highly personalised and intuitive learning experience, So I can achieve my learning goals efficiently and effectively.
Project goals
Enhanced Personalisation: Create a highly personalised learning experience, where users receive course recommendations and content tailored to their preferences, goals, and progress.
Intuitive User Experience: Simplify the platform's navigation and user interface, making it more intuitive and user-friendly therefore reducing complexity.
Community Building: Provide opportunities for users to interact, collaborate, and learn from peers and coaches.
A Manual Heavy, Highly Unsatisfying Process
From the stakeholder interview and usability test alone, it was clear that the current process of purchasing insurance form Turners was manual heavy. Overall the experience of purchasing insurance online was rated at an average of 2/10, with users taking more than 1 minute to even find the insurance page while also failing to complete the task of getting a quote online.
Diving deeper into the pain points of customers, the existing user journey and user flow of the insurance purchasing process allowed us to identify the key stages in the process where drop off was likely and negative emotions were rife. The proposed user flow was developed and refined as we progressed through the design process but was helpful to place beside the existing user flow in order to see the focus of our improvements.
We restructured the platform's information architecture to make it more intuitive and organised.
Platform Information Architecture:
-
Streamlined navigation menus with well-defined categories for courses, progress tracking, and user management.
-
Improved content organisation and categorisation for a logical user journey.
-
Developed personalised dashboards for individual learners, displaying progress and course recommendations.
-
Integrated advanced analytics and reporting features for organisational administrators.
Mobile App Information Architecture:
-
Designed a simplified, mobile-first navigation structure.
-
Prioritised core features and content for mobile users.
-
Ensured consistency in terminology and navigation between the web platform and mobile app.

-
Task-Based Testing: Participants were given specific tasks to complete within the LMS platform and mobile app. These tasks included enrolling in a course, setting learning goals, accessing recommended content, and interacting with coaching features.
-
Think-Aloud Protocol: Users were encouraged to verbalise their thought processes as they navigated through the platform and app. This provided insights into their decision-making and any issues they encountered.
-
Survey and Questionnaires: After the testing sessions, participants were asked to complete surveys and questionnaires to gather quantitative data regarding their satisfaction and preferences.
-
Users found the new interface more intuitive and engaging.
-
Real-time coaching chat received positive feedback and increased engagement.
User feedback played a crucial role in refining the LMS platform and mobile app:
-
Based on user interactions, the placement of certain features was adjusted to align with user preferences.
-
The recommendation algorithm was fine-tuned to enhance the quality of course suggestions.
-
User dashboard layouts were simplified and clarified based on user comments.
